What are your standard sizes?

Our standard sizes vary depending on our product line.  Please see our Products drop-down menu at the top of our website.

What can I use to attach a heater to my product?

Standard off the shelf RTV silicone can be used on silicone rubber and polyamide heaters.  Care should be taken that the RTV is spread evenly and there are no air gaps.  An uneven application can result in hot spots and lead to premature failure.

What is the highest temperature?

A silicone rubber heater is good for up to 400°F continuous. It can take spikes in temperature beyond 400°F, but continued use above this will start to breakdown the silicone rubber and void the warranty.

Are the heaters repairable?

There are no field repairable parts on the heater.

Can the heater be washed down?

Generally no, and they should be protected from the weather.  However, applications requiring a heater that is water resistance should be referred to Customer Services.

What is the difference between a Thermostat Drum Heater and a Non-Thermostat Drum Heater?

A Thermostatically controlled drum heater is limited to the upper cut-off of the thermostat.  The standard thermostat ranger is between 50 to 400°F.  This range limits the temperature of the drum heater's surface and not the contents of the container.

What temperature will this drum heater reach?

The skin temperature of the drum heater is limited by the  setting of the thermostat which can reach up to 400°F.  An uncontrolled drum heater without a proper heat sink will quickly get hot enough to destroy itself.

How long will it take to receive a drum heater?

Drum heaters are a stock items which can generally ship within 3 days.  Shipping time varies dependent on the method of shipment the customer requests.

Will the barrel become too hot to touch?

It is possible for the barrel to become too hot to handle without additional protective equipment.

How close can I put drum heaters together while on the same drum?

Any heater can be placed side-by-side.  However, care should be taken to ensure that one heater does NOT overlap another heater.

Will this drum heater fit my barrel if it is close to the heater's designed size?

Yes, if there is space in the spring for the difference in size.

How do I power-up the drum heater?

What is the amperage draw?

If you know the Volts and Watts of the heater, then please see the Ohms law calculator on our Engineering Date Webpage.  If not, then please feel free to contact Customer Service

How many Watts will I need?

If you are comfortable with calculating the math yourself, please see our Engineering Date Webpage.  If not, then feel free to contact Customer Services

Our Standard heaters have a nominal thickness of 0.0095", but the heaters can vary in thickness depending which options the customer wishes to include

Does it matter if I use DC instead of AC?

The performance difference between a DC or AC voltage is minimal.  DC voltage does however impact the thermostat negatively.  The maximum amperage is reduced and the life expectancy may be less
